July 22

Well we made it to Maine to see the Whitlows.  They have the most beautiful spot on  the lake.  It is so relaxing, we have had a wonderful time so far, mostly just relaxing and visiting.   We did go to the Portland Headlight (lighthouse) it started pouring down rain on us almost the min we arrived.  We did manage to take a picture or two. The weather has been absolutely beautiful, cool breezy.

Well we are off to Bar Harbor Maine tomorrow, the Whitlow's are going with us!

July 6th

7/6   Today was very hot again, we played in the water today to stay cool.  We also treated ourself to a Mexican dinner--it has been almost two weeks.
We went back to Cape Charles to watch the sunset, reminds me a lot of home.
We are missing everyone.

All's well in Murphy World.  We even got to do facetime with Bing.

July 4th

7/4  Boy it was a hot one.  We mostly read inside the "little house", with the air going. We decided to go for a drive to see what we could find, possible look at the Atlantic side of the island.  Well we could only find Marsh land, it looked just like the marshes in Darien and Brunswick Ga.  We found out that barrier island were purchased by a conservation group and you can't get to the Atlantic except by boat.  After driving 60 miles or so we headed back to the pools.  Around 9pm there was a great fireworks display at our campground, they also had live entertainment.  We lost power around 1:30am, everyone did, It got so hot for me that I went outside and slept on the picnic table.  The electricity came on at 4am, needless to say I went back inside,  Henry slept through all of this.

7/5  Well we are scheduled for a fishing trip this morning, have to be at the boat at 7:30-&45.  After we made it to the boat I was spraying suntan lotion on and I have all these red blotches on my arms and legs.  It takes a while to realize that the tablecloth was green with red watermelons on it, so I have red watermelon tattoos all over me.
The fishing trip was good, we caught lots of fish, unfortunately we were only able to keep about five.   Sea bass and trout had to be 12" to keep them, that is a good size.  They had a young girl and old man (older than 70) that would clean, fillet and deliver your fish, we chose that option.  Well we had fried fish for supper, it was delicious.

7/2  We were actually able to pull the trailer out without any maneuvering after our kind neighbor moved his car for us.  We miss calculated how far Virginia beach( Chesapeake bay) is,  it is 397 miles, that's a long time pulling a trailer.  We left Myrtle Beach around 10 am and arrived at cheristone park at 6:30,  we went over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel pulling the trailer--wow!  Parking was not so bad, we set up and went for a walk, the sunset was beautiful.   There are 4 fishing piers,  little kids were getting crabs with nets on a long pole.  There are hundreds of people here, it is very commercial; mini golf, fountain/spray pad, 4 pools, boat rental, kayaks, bikes, fishing trips.

7/3  Today was kind of a rest day, went to the adult pool on the edge of the water.  We had to adventure out to find some tequila.  We also found Cape Charles, a delightful little town with a lovely beach area and public piers for fishing and crabbing.  Just out from the pier was an osprey nest with 2 babies--you could see them without binoculars.
We had seen a 45 ft sailboat pull into a marina so on our way out of town we decided to go to the marina.  We found a charming bar/restaurant, it reminded us of Fly Creek, we checked out their Margaritas--GREAT!
We had a little problem back at the house, atleast Jess and Alan did.  We think it is all taken care of.

6/29  We made it to Myrtle Beach state park today.  I even pulled the camper today.  It was not as hard as I expected. I even drove over two bridges==that's a big deal for me!  Again we were blessed with a site that was almost impossible to get in.  Two different people were kind enough to move their cars and after quite a few maneuvers we were in our spot  but still had to keep maneuvering it so we could push the slide out.  The sites in South Carolina are small and close together.
Now the beach is beautiful, the sand is much whiter and cleaner looking than Hunters Island.  There is a large fishing pier and parking at the pier and also parking at the walkway to the beach for the campers.

6/30  Coffee on the beach again,  the water is lovely.  The water  temperture is about 80 + degrees, the air temp reached100 degrees.  We ate locally this evening,  seafood buffet,  I guess we are missing our Biloxi Crab legs.  The Seafood House did not meet the standard.
Back to the beach for our evening walk and sat and watched the surf until we were chilled.

7/1  The beach is so beautiful, after sleeping in this am we went to the beach and played in the water for a couple of hours.   Just as we had gotten out of the water, the lifeguard made everyone get out.  Could there have been a shark?  We did not ask, I did not want to know.  We made our run to Campers World, the thermostat is not working properly, we freeze or burn up.  New thermostat is now being installed----I hope this works.
I'm missing everyone,
Hello  Stephen, Abby, Cecelia and Jude,  big kisses to you.

Adventures of camping

6/21/12   WE started our month and 1/2 camping trip at 9am,  headed for Eufala AL.   We met up with our friends just as we got off I 10 on us 231 for Eufala.  We stopped at a Subway with  Ann and Mike W. for lunch,  when we went back to the truck, it would not start.  Henry's key was stuck in the ignition and we could not work anything.  Mike W. tried to jump start us but it did not work.  Henry called the Dodge dealer in Mariana and was told we still had roadside insurance, call the tow truck.  In the mean time the Philbricks meet with us and also waited for the tow truck . The tow truck guy was able to jump us and get us going again.   The Weirs took our boxes of food and the Philbricks took our case of wine, in case we were going to be delayed.

We went to the Mariana Dodge Dealer, it was the battery, everything was under warrenty.  Now it is 5pm and we head to WhiteOak st park.   We arrive around 7pm, it is beautiful.  We are on a site with beach front white sand and water.  We are all there, Roots, Philbricks, Weirs and Murphys; Kathy G and Rob arrive around 7:30.  We dine on Wine and BLT'S for dinner.

6/22 Kayaking first thing - before it got too hot, then a tour of the city of Eufala , visited the chamber of commerce and the Fendell House, the homes are beautiful.  I did a little fishing, no bites.  We all were inundated with ants, I have never seen so many.  We all purchased bug spray.  We had a joint dinner again, steaks and wine .

6/23 Today we decided to go tour the Little Grand Canyon.  We decided to walk the 3&1/2 mile tour-  boy was it hot- it ended up that we only had to hike about 2 miles .

6/24  Sunday   I always hate the pack up day.  Everyone was packing up most of the morning but we did manage to have that great big breakfast,  bacon eggs, potatoes and onions, sausage and fruit.  The Philbricks headed off for Tenn. early, about 10am.  We left our trailer at the site and drove back to Daphne,  I did not want to put off my mammogram for fear something might go wrong if I did not go ahead and get pressed!  We were able to pick up our passports just in case Canada was in our near future.

6/25   Jumped back in the truck and headed for Eufala,  it took us until 3pm to get connected and dumped and on the road to Little Ocmulgee st. pk.  We arrived at 8pm,  Henry was able to get us in a site and connedted in about 10 min, thank goodness.   We were tired and hungry.

6/26  We are staying @ Little Ocmulgee s.p. It is truly beautiful.  Golf course, mini golf, lake splash pad--fountains .  No one is here and looks like rain.  We did our shopping today, Goody's , Fred's, Beall's and Harvey's.  More ant spray.

6/27  Now we are on the way to Hunters Island, St. Park in  South Carolina right on the Atlantic.  The parking site was a real challenge.  I mean a real challenge.  It was a nice little walk to the beach, kids everywhere, a real family place.

6/28  Coffee on the beach and a long walk, it just doesn’t get any better.  A visit to Beaufort, some Historical sites but mostly trying to fix our internet supply.  We had a lovely lunch at Gilligans, shrimp.  Back to the beach.

6/29  Coffee on the beach again and a long walk to the hunting Island Lighthouse, then pack up.  A real challenge getting out of our site.  On to Myrtle beach.
